I have been noticing that several of the pieces recently hosted to sites have the pages out of order.

I think I have figured out why.
First of all, it's not the fault of any of the fantastic people putting in the hard work here.
There is a quirk in many computer image filing systems that can cause the scans to upload out of order.
The quirk is this: If the file name starts with a letter, it will skip the natural number order. For example if the file name is ab1, the file will skip to files ab11 - ab19 then to ab101 - ab199 and so on before it goes to ab2. It goes through all the 1's first in line after the letters then all the 2's and so on.

It's a real pain
I have run into this sort of things many times before myself. I used to volunteer as a reference librarian/page. Scanning old legal documents, magazines and newspapers was part of my job. I often had the pages come up out of order, even though when I looked at the file, the seemed to be in order.

There are two ways to combat this problem:
1. Place a descending letter value in front of every ten file names. Example: Aab for files 0-9, Bab for files 10-19, Cab for files 20-29 and so on.
....Or....
2. Make sure that the file name starts with the numbers first before any letters.

I know this may seem like a small thing, but it can make a big difference, especially when reputation is on the line.

I hope for your continued success!!"

This suggestion was made by a member of sms forum IasaSinni, she posted this under hosting thread out of concern and i wanted to post it here also!!

Thanxs for the info from both of you :) after many pm's back and forth to different people I think I have it figured out..it is me who is usually doing the uploading at mf so it seems that it was the numbering....the mixed up pages should not happen again but if it does I apologize in advance....
